Causes for Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a nerve disorder. People suffering from this syndrome may have tingling, numbness, unusual sensations, weakness, or burning pain in the affected area. Oftentimes, the indications are proportioned and involve both hands and feet. Since the warning signs are often present in the areas enclosed by gloves or stockings, the syndrome is frequently illustrated as having a “glove and stocking” distribution of symptoms.

Following are some of the causes of peripheral neuropathy:

Pressure on the nerves and uncontrolled diabetes are the main causes of peripheral neuropathy.

Diabetic polyneuropathy- associated with diabetes; among 10 to 20 % of people who are newly diagnosed with diabetes have diabetic polyneuropathy. Longer the diabetes, greater the chance of diabetic polyneuropathy; survey says that half of all people who have been breathing with diabetes for more than 25 years have diabetic polyneuropathy.

Following are some of the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy:

• Muscle weakness

• Lack of harmonization

• Lack of sensation in hands and legs

Further risk factors for diabetic polyneuropathy take account of:

• Hypertension

• Smoking 2

• Excess consumption of alcohol

• being 40 years of age or over

• poorly controlled diabetes

Peripheral neuropathy treatment and its victory depend on the core complaint that is causing it. Regrettably there is not a single treatment that works for all neuropathies. It has its own unique treatment. For instance, peripheral neuropathy caused by vitamin deficiencies can frequently be brought to an end with vitamin therapy and an improved diet. With that said, the treatment differs according to the severity of symptoms.
